A number of people suggested rebuilding mailboxes, which doesn’t fix all problems but may fix some. I experienced a lot of Mail problems after upgrading to El Capitan. I tried doing the same thing with Gmail with the same results (and I already have a Google POP account) so it’s not just Yahoo. I put in my address and it creates an IMAP account for me instead of giving me the option of creating a POP account. Under “Add Account” I click “Other mail account”. In some situations, you may find the port number or mail server address has changed once the new settings have been detected from the mail server, and the problem will resolve itself accordingly. Not all users encounter this issue with Mail app after installing an OS X update, and though the reason is unclear, it’s possible the problematic setups had configured an email account some time ago, and could be using legacy settings for a specific mail server. SMTP mail accounts, these solutions should do the trick. Not sure how iCloud learned what I was doing on my computer. Apple is not following that filtering criteria because now the only email that finds its way to SpanSieve's SPAM mailbox is the iTunes emails, all other trained actions result in that email being placed in the Junk mailbox. There is one exception, I have trained SpamSieve to filter all iTunes email as junk. I have been using SpamSieve for the last 6 years and as of April 2015 Apple's iCloud operation has perfectly mimicked 6 years of training SpamSieve, all filtered mail that meet the SpamSieve criteria are now placed in a folder labeled Junk instead of SPAM. These actions seem to be independent of whether Junk mail is enabled in Preferences or not. Then to determine if the email is delivered "as is", delivered as "Junk" or in some cases blocked entirely. Something happened with Mail's handling of Junk Mail on or about Apthat is allowing Apple to scan incoming email prior to delivery. Everything I had saved in my smart mailboxes is also gone. My junk mailbox and my trash mailbox have disappeared. ![]()
